Our Vision:  For all immigrants in the High Country to feel that their dignity is respected, and their voices valued as part of an engaged, supportive, and inclusive community.

Our Mission: To seek empowerment through education, cultural exchange, and access to resources to achieve and defend equity and social justice for the immigrant and migrant community.

Our Values:

DIGNITY
We affirm the dignity of all immigration-affected people.
COMMUNITY BUILDING THROUGH COLLABORATION
Effective collaborations that strengthen the entire community are possible through the respectful exchange of ideas between immigration-affected people & the wider community.
FOR THE PEOPLE, AND BY THE PEOPLE
Immigration-affected* people must have a seat at the table on issues that affect them. We prioritize their voices and experiences, and our work is led and informed by their unique perspectives.
EMPOWERMENT AND EDUCATION
We grow in power when the immigration-affected and the broader community recognize our shared rights & responsibilities towards one another. We work to dispel misunderstandings and increase mutual respect.
TRUST, HUMILITY, & PERSEVERANCE

As we persevere to overcome obstacles & accomplish our goals, we practice trust in our unique abilities and in the collective process. We also recognize that there is always more to learn and room to grow.

Hellem Stamm: Digital Communications and Intern/Student Coordinator

As an immigrant herself (from Venezuela), Hellem is super passionate about working with the immigration affected community, being an advocate, and helping others. Hellem is a 2014 Appalachian State graduate and has worked in Boone since 2014 building her social work career. She currently lives in the foothills area but her heart belongs to the mountains.

She loves spending time with her family, creating things and being craft and artsy, traveling, and relaxing outdoors. Her hope is to see a world that loves and accepts everyone.
